The Lumiere-Hall Multimedia Museum.
Do you remember how the walls of Lumiere-Hall once blossomed with Vincent van Gogh’s sunflowers and starry skies? If you’ve missed the atmosphere of immersive multimedia exhibitions, we have great news: the venue in the heart of the capital is reopening its doors to those who seek not only beauty in art but also a challenge to their perceptions. This time, post-impressionism has given way to rebellion — Astana welcomes the exhibition “Banksy. Genius or Vandal?”
Who is Banksy and why is everyone talking about him?
Banksy is arguably the most mysterious figure in contemporary art. His identity has remained unknown for more than 25 years. The anonymous British artist began with illegal graffiti on the streets of Bristol, and today his works sell for millions of dollars at auction. His style combines sharp satire, dark humor, and powerful social commentary on war, capitalism, and hypocrisy.
What awaits visitors: from projections to original artifacts
The exhibition in Astana is far more than a traditional gallery display. It is a 40-minute multimedia show where music, visuals, and large-scale projections bring Banksy’s works to life, creating the feeling of walking through the streets of London or New York.
The highlight of the exhibition is its collection of authentic artifacts:
• Original Road Signs – Rare exhibits featuring traces of Banksy’s actual graffiti.
• Banksy of England – The famous fake banknotes depicting Princess Diana instead of the Queen, which Banksy once distributed in large quantities in the London Underground.
• Dismaland – Documentary footage from Banksy’s infamous dystopian theme park, created as an anti-Disneyland experience.
