More than one hundred thousand foreign tourists from more than 160 countries have visited Kazakhstan since June 1, 2022.
According to the ministry, from June 1 to August 8, 2022, 102,742 foreign tourists registered at the accommodation facilities. For comparison, from January 1 to August 8, 205,194 people were registered in the system.
Almaty turned out to be the most popular place for tourists – 35,983 people. In the second place – Nur-Sultan – 23,442 tourists, then Mangystau region – 6,883, Aktobe region – 5,176, Akmola region – 4,634, Kyzylorda region – 4,312, East Kazakhstan region – 3,254, Atyrau region – 3,111, Shymkent – 2,822 people.
Such data is obtained from the eQonaq information system, in which all foreign guests are registered when checking into accommodation. In total, there are 7,961 places of accommodation in the database: hotels, hostels, apartments, campsites, camp sites, guest houses, holiday homes, boarding houses, ski resorts, children’s camps, wellness centers.
“Currently, we are actively implementing the eQonaq system, and so far we have not covered all placements. Therefore, the real statistics are 1.5-2 times more. Soon we will have the opportunity to check the official data for the first half of the year. Given that the publication usually takes three months, it will happen in September,” explained the press secretary of JSC “NC Kazakh Tourism” Ernur Kenzhebekov.
According to the information provided, such a number of tourists came from more than 160 countries. The most tourists were from Russia – 53,177 people, from Uzbekistan – 10,407, Turkey – 3,148, China – 2,954, Germany – 2,309, Kyrgyzstan – 2,068, Tajikistan – 2,050, Saudi Arabia – 1,977, India – 1,762 and from the UK – 1,526.
