The winners were awarded with official diplomas of the winners. A special prize for the winners was participation in the cultural and educational program “Sacred South”. “Sacred South” is an educational trip to three southern cities of Kazakhstan with rich places of cultural and natural heritage. The trip took place from October 22 to 24 and covered Shymkent, Turkestan and Taraz. During the trip, the participants visited the main cultural and historical monuments of all three cities, which gave new impressions and awareness of the significance of our rich history and culture for all participants who first beheld majestic monuments and sacred places.

One of the main ancient monuments that caused great delight was the mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, which struck with its scale and significance of cultural and historical heritage for our country. The participants also visited the ancient city of Otrar, which was located at the intersection of caravan routes and was a center of trade and exchange of cultures. The program of the trip included the famous mausoleum of Aisha-Bibi, whose legend touched the hearts of all listeners during the guide’s story, and the most mysterious place – the ruins of Akyrtas, the secrets and mysteries of which have not yet been revealed.

This project was implemented within the framework of the UNESCO participation program with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the UNESCO Cluster Office in Almaty, the National Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan for UNESCO and ISESCO and NC Kazakh Tourism JSC and was aimed at promoting the cultural and natural heritage of Kazakhstan among young people.

At the end of November, an application will be launched, where all routes developed within the framework of the Youth and Heritage project will be added. This application will provide an opportunity for both local and foreign tourists to explore new cities and areas of Kazakhstan without the accompaniment of a special guide or to turn to young caring guys, the authors of these routes, to explore the region from the words and vision of a local resident.
