Named the top 10 most booked tourist destinations in the world

12 May 2022

Experts have compiled the top 10 destinations that tourists book for travel in the first quarter of 2022, we transmit information with reference to the Expedia Group study.

According to experts, major cities such as Las Vegas, New York, Chicago and London remained popular among travelers and entered the top ten most booked destinations in the world in the first quarter along with beach destinations such as Cancun, Punta Cana, Honolulu and Miami.
Las Vegas topped the NORA M list (an economic region that includes Canada, the United States and Mexico), overtaking New York, which ranked first in the third and fourth quarters of 2021. At the same time, for the third quarter in a row, New York is among the ten most booked destinations in all regions. The leaders in the other three regions were Tokyo (APAC: Asia-Pacific and Japan), London (EMEA: Europe, Middle East and Africa) and Mexico City (LATAM: Latin America).

As Expedia Group Media Solutions researchers note in their report, this year promises to be a period of steady growth.

“We are optimistic about what awaits us in 2022. The growth in the number of search queries around the world and the growing consumer interest in environmentally friendly travel are just some of the positive trends that we observed in the first quarter,” said Jennifer Andre, global vice president of media solutions at the company.

People became more interested in traveling as the covid restrictions weakened. This is evidenced by the growing number of global queries. In the first quarter, global search volume increased by 25 percent compared to the previous quarter, thanks to double-digit growth in North America (NORAM) by 30 percent and in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) by 25 percent.

Also, global search volumes increased by 75 percent compared to the first quarter of 2021. In all regions, there was an increase compared to last year: the search volume in the EMEA region increased by 165 percent, in NORAM – by 70 percent. Growth in Latin America was 50 percent, and in the Asia-Pacific region (APAC) – 30 percent.
