Relict fir trees damaged by vandals on Kaindy Lake will be restored

22 December 2021

Relict fir trees damaged by vandals are being restored on Kaindy Lake. This was reported by the Forestry and Wildlife Committee of the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources.

“The situation has been taken under control by the administration of the National Park, restoration work is underway.

In turn, we would like to note that the condition of the damaged trees of Lake Kaindy and, in general, the protection of specially protected natural areas are under constant control of the Ministry,” the ministry said in a statement.

The incident became known on December 17, when eco-activists noticed that unknown people had carved relict fir trees with inscriptions. It is these trees that have become the hallmark of Kainda and attract tourists from all over the world.

The administration of the Kolsai Lakes National Park promised to look into the situation.
